Mary Adams Kepler Wolter
October 3, 1928 - March 19, 2021
Mary Adams Kepler Wolter, age 92, passed away unexpectedly at her home in St. Charles, Minnesota on March 19, 2021.
Mary was born in Rochester, Minnesota, at St. Marys Hospital. She went to Rochester Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1945. She attended Rochester Junior College where she met her future husband, Robert (Bob) M. Wolter in 1946. The couple went on to the University of Minnesota where she earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts in 1950.
Mary and Bob married in 1949 and settled in St. Charles in 1952. She returned to college after her children were in school. She received a Master of Science Degree in Chemistry from Winona State University. Mary taught physical and organic chemistry at Rochester Community and Technical College for 23 years.
After retirement Mary and Bob spent many beautiful days at their lake cabin on Big Island Lake and their cabin near Whitewater. Mary was very devoted to her family and friends and was a true Renaissance woman. She will be remembered and missed for her zest for life, optimism, passion, intellect, sense of humor and her fondness for the taste of a good cocktail. Mary's interests were varied and many. She loved art and was an avid collector. We will not forget the many hours she spent drawing up plans for remodeling her house or cabins. Mary loved to travel and was always up to going anywhere with anyone. She was passionate about animals and nature. She loved to read, wrote poetry and a novel. Mary loved to discuss books, art, philosophy, mythology, current events, politics and science with her close friends and family.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents: Drs. Edwin and Helen Kepler; her sister: Dr. Marcia Ann Kepler Bilbao (d. January 1, 2021). She is survived by her husband, Bob; her children: Marcia Wolter Blackburn, John and Pam (Grow) Wolter; her grandchildren: Charlie and Sarah (Stock) Blackburn, Greg Wolter, Henry Blackburn, Chris Wolter and fiancée, Jesse Buckwalter, James Wolter and fiancée, Joseph Long; her great-grandchildren: Ben and Norah Blackburn.
