Mary Ann Duane, 73 of Lewiston, died Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Mulders Nursing Home in West Salem.
Mary Ann was born December 4, 1947 in Winona during a snowstorm to Joe & Helen (Randall) Duane. She attended Enterprise Country School for three years and she always said it was three wonderful years of learning. She then went onto Lewiston Elementary and High School, graduating in 1965. Mary Ann attended one year of community college in Rochester before beginning her years of work. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital for 26 years in various capacities with the last being the secretary of the School of Practical Nursing. In 1993, Mary Ann moved back to Lewiston and started work at Riverside Electronics, where she worked for 20 years.
Mary Ann's faith and church were especially important to her. She was an active and life-long member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She played the organ at St. Rose for 53 years, beginning when she was 15 years old. She also sang in the choir for 25 years, was President of the Women's Group and taught faith formation for 10 years. Mary Ann also played the organ for St. Anne's Hospice in Winona for 27 years.
She loved everyone and was always doing something for others. She lived her faith everyday and loved her family and friends so very much. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her siblings, Fran (John) DeLozier, Barb (Jim) Decker, Jim (Mary Theresa) Duane and Kathy Duane; 17 nieces and nephews; 23 great-nieces and nephews and 6 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Tom Duane and infant sister, Veronica Duane and her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Reverend Robert Stamschror officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at the church and one hour prior to Mass. She will be laid to rest at St. Rose Cemetery in a private family service.
