St. Charles, Marvin Albert Kurth, 86, of St. Charles died Friday October 10th at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles, where he had been a resident for 1 ? years. Marvin was born May 24, 1917 in Olmsted County, rural St. Charles, to Albert and Anna (Putzier) Kurth. He attended several area country schools though 8th grade. Marvin worked at the Implement Company in Zumbro Falls and Valley Corporation in the cranberry fields near Tomah, WI. He then moved to the Chicago/ Milwaukee area and worked in several different jobs. On May 18, 1942 he married Dorothy Naomi Risinger in Chicago. In 1947 they returned to St. Charles. He worked at Smith Dairy for several years and farmed from 1948 until retiring. During his farming years he also did livestock trucking to St. Paul and custom farming. He enjoyed farming and visiting with friends and family. Marvin belonged to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, three sons, Lyman (Susie) of Utica; Ronald (Sue) and Roger (Cathy) of St. Charles, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Leora Matzke of St. Charles and Phyllis (Marvin) Mussell of Utica and a brother Howard (Harriet) of Henderson, NV. A son Melvin and a brother Raymond preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
