Marlys J. Friederichs

Winona, MN Marlys J. Friederichs, 68, of Winona, MN, died Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Kensington in Winona, MN. Marlys was born on November 30, 1938 to Walter and Lydia (Spiering) Friederichs in Gaylord, MN. They then moved to Mankato, MN. She graduated from Mankato High School, attended Mankato State University, and received a Masters of Nursing degree from the University of Minnesota. Marlys was the Nursing Administrator for Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN for 25 years. She then moved to Rochester and was the Director of Nursing at Assisi Heights for 10+ years until she retired. After retiring, she moved to Rushford, MN and was a very active member of Rushford Lutheran Church. She also was a volunteer for the Rushford Food Shelf. Marlys enjoyed traveling, mysteries, visiting her family and friends, and was very close to her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by one brother, Dennis Friederichs of Houston, MN; two nieces, Kristine (Bruce) Wolle of Dakota, MN and Melissa (Andy Roller) Soppa of Plymouth, MN; one nephew, Mark (Christina) Friederichs of Rushford, MN; four great nieces and nephews, Cassandra, Michael, and Zachary Meridith and Brandon Friederichs; two sister-in-laws, Laurie Williams of Winona, MN and Christine Soppa of Caledonia, MN. Marlys is preceded in death by her parents. The Memorial Service for Marlys will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Reverend Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato, MN at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to Rushford Lutheran Church Flood Relief.
