HOFF FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE - RUSHFORD, 507-864-7771 RUSHFORD, MINN. - Marlys E. Roelofs, 81, of Rushford, Minn. died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, Minn. Marlys was born on February 17, 1929, in Spring Valley, Minn. to James Carrol and Myrtle (Guy) McClary. She was raised in the Spring Valley area and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1946. Marlys worked for Benson Optical in Rochester, Minn. She married Clayton Roelofs in Rochester on July 2, 1949. Marlys and Clayton moved to Rushford in 1952. She worked for Dahl's Auto Works for many years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushford. She enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles and reading. Marlys was a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home and Rushford Schools. She loved her family and being active in her children and grandchildren's lives. She is survived by her husband, Clayton; one son, Steve (Lisa) Roelofs of Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Rita (Paul) Iverson of New Milford, Conn.; four grandchildren: Chad and Mathew Roelofs, Anna and Sam Iverson, great grandchild Lia Roelofs; and by one brother, Wilfred McClary of Austin, Minn. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Dickey. There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford, Minn. with the Rev. Paula Bremer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove City Cemetery in Rushford. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford. Marlys' family prefers memorials to be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford or a memorial of your choice.
