Marlene Ann Benck

Marlene Ann [Berg] Benck, 84, of Winona, formerly of Goodview, passed away on March 29, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.

Marlene was born on July 10, 1940, and raised by Evelyn and Joseph Berg and one of 8 children.

Marlene attended Winona schools.

Marlene married David J. Kotlarz Sr. in October of 1957. They had three children, David Jr, Vicki and Valeri. They later divorced.

Marlene married Kenneth Benck in August 1983. They were married 41 years until Ken's passing in January of this year.

Through the years, she worked at several places including Shorty's Restaurant in Winona as a cook and waitress, Camera Art in Lewiston and Joanne Fabrics in Burnsville Center. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and quilting.

Marlene is survived by her three children, David Jr of Laughlin, NV, Vic (Randy) Reinhardt and Val (Randy) Dennis, both of Winona, grandchildren, Courtney (Jordan) Ossefoort of Sioux Falls, SD, and Conrad Dennis of Rushford, and one great grandson, Raymond Ossefoort of Sioux Falls, SD, brothers Bradley (Gloria) Berg of Woodbury, MN, and Patrick Berg of Winona, and sister Maxine Fawcett of Winona. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Ken Benck, daughter-in-law Paula Kotlarz, sisters Bonnie Barnholtz and Marie Grinde, and brothers Donald Berg and Randy Berg, and her parents.

There will be a visitation from 9am-11am on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Hoff Funeral Home (3480 Service Dr. Goodview, MN) followed by the memorial service at 11am.

A dinner will be served after the service.

Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
