HOUSTON, MN - Marlene Ann (Gady) Bahler, 80, of Houston, MN died on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN.
Marlene was born on April 23, 1938, in La Crosse, WI to Walter and Louise (Lassen) Gady. She was raised in Nodine, MN on the family farm and graduated from Winona Senior High School in Winona, MN in 1956. She was united in marriage with Leo "Bud" Bahler on September 14, 1963. Marlene and Bud lived in rural Brownsville where they began raising their three children. Bud died in a truck accident in 1973. Marlene then moved her young family to Houston, MN. She worked in housekeeping at Valley View Nursing Home where she had been named employee of the year. She also cleaned at local businesses in Houston and baby sat for many families. Marlene moved to Harmony, MN four years ago until entering the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield. She especially enjoyed the activities provided to her at the care center. Marlene was a very hard worker and always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading, cats and dogs.
She is survived by three children: Joyce (Brian) Lorch of Kenyon, MN, John Bahler of Houston, and Alan (Sue) Bahler of Harmony, MN; five grandsons: Cameron (Ashley) Lorch, Brandon Lorch, Robert Bahler, Austin Bahler, and Logan Bahler; two great-granddaughters: Kaylee and Grace; three siblings: Marlin Gady, Irene (Ken) Boldt, and Sharon (Jerome) Unnasch; three brothers-in-law: Ronald Scheck, John Rossin, and Wilfred Rottman.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Delaine Scheck and Carol Rossin; three sisters-in-law: Anita Gady, Ruthie Rottman, and Lavern O'Leary and Lavern's husband, Donald.
The family would like to especially thank the Chosen Valley Care Center and Seasons Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Marlene.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with Pastor Linda McPeak officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Brownsville, MN. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Marlene's family prefers memorials directed to Chosen Valley Care Center, Valley View Healthcare and Rehab, or Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
