St. Charles,
Marleen A. Nelson, 80, of St.Charles died Saturday, July 30th at The Homestead of Rochester. She was born May 11, 1936 in St. Charles to Norbert and ClaraBelle (Beutler) Loppnow. Marleen married David Nelson October 22, 1953 at Berea Moravian Church near St. Charles. They made their home in St. Charles. Marleen took pride in being a homemaker and being there for her kids when they got home from school each day. She was a wonderful cook and took pride in cooking and baking "all the wrong things". She made baking, frosting and decorating Christmas cookies a part of her families holiday tradition. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Marleen was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles and volunteered in the community.
Survivors include her husband David, five children; Debra Johnson of Kasson, Marlin "Pete" (Peggy) Nelson of Portage, WI, Thomas (Cheryl) Nelson of Aurora, CO, Michael (Barb) Nelson of Oshkosh, WI and Terra Lidbom of St. Charles, grandchildren; Jenie Johnson, Tony Johnson, Geri Anne Nelson, Jonathon Nelson, Jaime Pulsfus, Thomas Nelson, Jr, Jessica Brees, Andrew Nelson, Samantha Sanchez, Lucas, Orin and Marda Lidbom, great-grandchildren; Brittany, Austin, Ramie, Rachel, Brinkley, Adler, Everly and Jaxon and by her sister Mary Jane (David) Harrison of St. Charles. Funeral services for Marleen will be 1 PM Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Samuel Morsching officiating. Cremation will follow services. Burial in Berea Moravian Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles.
