Mark Walter Christenson

April 4, 1925 — July 6, 2006

Mark Walter Christenson, 81, of Stewartville died Thursday morning July 6th at his home. He was born April 4, 1925 in Rochester to Walter and Flossie (Domke) Christenson. Mark served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Winged Arrow, stationed in the South Pacific. He and Elaine C. Thedens were married on August 20, 1946 and later divorced. He had farmed in Salem Corners until moving to Simpson to farm until 1975. Mark and Neva Stevens Storm were married on June 29, 1979 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. They made their home in Stewartville where Mark worked for All American Co-op until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and dancing to old time music. He belonged to the Eagles Club of Rochester, Stewartville American Legion, Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge and Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife Neva, a daughter JulLea (William) Bailey of Chatfield, four step-sons; Randy Storm of Austin, Dale, Rick and Ron Storm all of St. Charles, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and a brother Jim Christenson of Kasson. He was preceded in death by an infant son, one sister and two brothers. Memorial Services will be at 11AM Monday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial of Mark's cremated body will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call one hour before services at the church.
