Mark James Hamann

Mark James Hamann, age 67, peacefully passed away in his home on June 28, 2021 surrounded by family. Memorial service will be held on July 6, at 1:30 pm at the Fountain Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Following the service, there will be fellowship in the church basement, preceding interment at the Chatfield Cemetery.

Mark was born in Guttenberg, Iowa, on March 25, 1954 to Gerald and Mary Ann (Molstein) Hamann. He was the second of seven children. He graduated from Preston-Fountain school in 1972. He married his high school sweetheart, Shari Sutherland, on September 15, 1973. Together they had three children. Mark was a man of strong faith and member of the Fountain Lutheran Church.

Mark worked construction for 30 years and enjoyed farming his entire life. He loved his time in the fields, raising beef cattle and pigs.

Mark lived life to the fullest, having a great sense of humor and jovial spirit. He enjoyed things such as snowmobiling, golfing, bowling, participating in card clubs, going to tractor pulls, and spending time with family and friends. He especially loved taking cruises with his wife, Shari, and friends. His favorite cruise was to the Panama Canal. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and was often seen proudly wearing a #1 Dad or a #1 Grandpa t-shirt.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shari; 3 children, Jennifer (Mark) Prochaska from Madison Lake, Minnesota, Kristine Hamann from Houston Texas, and Andrew (Emily) Hamann from Rochester Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, Alex, Aiden, and Ella Prochaska, Sydney and Piper Hamann. His Mother, Mary Ann Hamann, and brothers David, Paul (Lu Anne), Daniel, James (JoEllen), John Hamann, and sister Mary Beth (Mike) Sedgwick. Sister-in-laws Connie (Robert) Eickhoff, Lori (Vince) Meyer, Wendy (Chris) Siercks and Brother-in-law Steven (Mona) Sutherland, as well as many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his father, Gerald Hamann and granddaughter Morgan Hamann.
