Mark Canada Hipps "Hippo", 83, of Winona died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. Mark was born May 2, 1926 in Canton, North Carolina to Thomas and Aliff (Plemmons) Hipps. He was raised in Canton and served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. Following his serving in the military Mark lived in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. He worked in car sales as well as operating Hippo's products; selling jams and relishes. In 1992 Mark moved to Winona. Mark had a great love for his dogs. He also enjoyed golfing and playing cards with the guys at Westfield. In Winona he enjoyed working at Hidden Valley Mobile Home Village for his dear friends Jerry, Judy, Ren and Amber Foster. They shared many special times together. Survivors include his three children; Kathleen (Robert) Jacobson of Winona, Kristine Hipps of Denver, CO and Thomas Hipps of Minneapolis, his granddaughter, Jessica (Blake) Darst of Winona and his dog J.R., who now lives with his daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Bob Jacobson. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Services to Remember Mark will be 11AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel with Pastor Joe McConkey of Pleasant Valley Church officiating. Friends may call from 10 AM until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. A reception will follow services at the funeral home.
