HOFF FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE 507-896-3127HOUSTON, MINN. - Marjorie H. Sather, 92, of Houston, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Valley View Care and Rehab Center in Houston. Marjorie was born on July 16, 1919, in Caledonia, Minn. to Christian and Sarah (Houge) Westby. She was raised in rural Houston and graduated from Houston High School. On September 30, 1939, she married Allen Sather. Marjorie and Allen farmed for many years in Looney Valley. She also worked many different jobs at Valley View Nursing Home. Marjorie was famous for her apple pies, donuts, and lefse. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, traveling on bus tours and was involved in the local 4-H club and the Red Hatters in Caledonia. She was a very active member of the Looney Valley Lutheran Church. Marjorie loved all children and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by four children: Richard (Marlene) Sather of Houston, Karen Moses and her fiancé, Denny Richardson of Lake City, Minn., David (Cindy) Sather of Edmond, Okla., and Jude (Bob) Ledebuhr of Rochester, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Tami (Taylor), Heidi (Jerred), Duren (Ceira), Kärin (Eric), Nicole, Ryan (Hilary), and Aaron (Gloria); sixteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, June Appinel of San Jose, Cal.Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, David; granddaughter, Wendi; two great-granddaughters; and three brothers: Vernon, Harley and Charles.The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2nd at Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston with the Rev. Jan King officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery in rural Houston. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Houston and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Marjorie's family prefers memorials to be directed to the Looney Valley Lutheran Church or to Valley View Care and Rehab.
