Marjorie A. Skree

HOFF FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE - HOUSTON 507-896-3127 HOUSTON, MINN. - Marjorie A. Skree, 89, of Houston, Minn. died on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center in Houston. Marjorie was born on June 11, 1923, in Looney Valley to J. Alfred and Amanda (Stenberg) Sather. She attended Looney Valley Country School, graduated from Houston High School in 1941, and attended Waldorf College in Forrest City, Iowa. Marjorie worked for five years in Washington D.C. for the Navy Department. On March 15, 1947, she married Gifford Skree in Looney Valley. She worked at Valley View Nursing Home for 18 years. Marjorie also farmed along-side her husband in Yucatan Township since 1953. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, baking, traveling and canning. Marjorie was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the church circle. Marjorie is survived by six children: Steven (Susanne) Skree of Rochester, Gerald (Jeanne) Skree of Inver Grove Heights, Mary Ann Dascher of Winona, Kathleen Skree of Minneapolis, Sherrie Conroy of Isanti and Susan Skree of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters-in-law: Genevieve Skree of La Crescent and Jo Ann Carlson of Caledonia. She was preceded in death by her husband and four siblings: Verlie, Themis, Allen and Merton. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Houston and hone hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Marjorie's family would prefer that memorials be directed to Cross of Christ Lutheran Church or Valley View Healthcare and Rehab Center.
