Marion Gray Erickson, 90 of Lewiston, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Marion was born December 3, 1925 in Duluth to William and Hazel (Gray) Williams. On August 12, 1950, she married Eugene Erickson, a loving union that lasted almost 64 years. They made their first home in Stockton. Later Gene and Marion bought a farm outside of Lewiston where they spent their next 55 years. At the age of 33, Marion was diagnosed with Polio and with help from her family and friends, she was able to leave her family for a few months so she could work to regain her health and strength. She was such a strong, independent woman and after recovering from Polio was able to have two more children to complete their family. Her family was of the utmost importance to her and there was nothing she wouldn't do for them. Marion was instrumental in making sure her children knew Jesus as their Lord and Savior so they could grow into well rounded individuals. She was a wonderful cook and very artistically talented. Marion was always taking classes to learn any craft she could, especially rosemaling. She loved working with children and was active in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Foreign Exchange Program and all of her kid's sporting activities. She was also a member of the Homemaker's Group and the Young Wives Club. Her soft heart included caring for many animals.
She is survived by seven children, Beverly (Dave) Griggs, Steve (Marion) Erickson, Gregory (Jeanne) Erickson, Barry (Pam) Erickson, Pam Erickson, Cindy (Lorne) Kellogg and Nathan (Julie) Erickson; 19 grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Griggs, Chelsie (Shon Hartman) Griggs, Colby (Rachel) Griggs, Dana (Adam) Reps, Marcus (Jessica) Erickson, Lucas Erickson, Christopher Erickson, Heather (Mark) Beerman, Brandon (Michelle) Erickson, Brittany (Adam) Loven, Hannah (Ben) Stewart, Kaitlin (Dustin) Jinks, Rachel, Brook, Nicole, Austin, Abigail, Isaac and Autumn Erickson; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; also her brother, William Williams; sisters-in-law, Judy Erickson and Lorraine Krenz and two exchange students who became part of the family, Juan Rodriquez of Costa Rica and Wil Memheere of the Netherlands; and nieces and nephews.
