While we are saddened by the loss of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, we are blessed to have had such a loving light in our lives for the years that we did.
Marion “Kay” Fliehr, age 81, of Winona, MN, passed away Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living.
She was born on November 10th, 1942, in Chippewa Falls, WI, the daughter of Truman and Marion (Peterson) Mehls. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Owen Fliehr, in 1962.
Together, Kay and Owen started their lives in Chippewa Falls, WI, eventually moving to Arlington, VA, Temecula, CA, then made their return to Chippewa Falls, all while raising their three sons.
Kay and Owen settled in Springfield, MO, and upon her husband’s passing in 1996, Kay moved to Winona, MN to be closer to family.
Through the years, Kay enjoyed her career as a home maker, real estate agent, eye technician, and driving instructor, although her greatest joy and passion was spending time with her family and dogs.
Kay is survived by her three sons: Michael (Nancy) Fliehr of Mondovi, WI, Daniel (Rita) Fliehr of Winona, MN, and Timothy (Tina) Fliehr of Oronoco, MN; six grandchildren: Katie Kruschke, Christopher (Kelsey) Fliehr, Sydney (Kurt) Schwieters, Paige (Joey) Fliehr, Katelynne Fliehr, and Owen Fliehr; four great grandchildren: Owen Kruschke, Austin Fadness, Sullivan Fliehr, and Noa Schwieters; two sisters: Mary Lou Solfest of Eau Claire, WI, and Marlene Borman of Winona, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents Truman and Marion Mehls, her husband Owen Fliehr, and her brother- in-laws Robert Solfest and Gary Borman.
The family would like to thank the Sugar Loaf Senior Living staff and Winona Health Hospice for their loving care.
Because of Kay’s love for rescue animals, memorials may be directed to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT, 84741
A private family service will be held at a later date.
