WINONAMarilyn Joyce (Reed) Wynia, 80 of Winona, died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 26, 2015 after a short battle with liver cancer.Marilyn was born March 31, 1935 in Austin, MN to Lyle and Charlotte (Miller) Reed. She was raised with two sisters and attended Austin High School. On June 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Wynia. They moved their family to Winona in the early 1960s. Marilyn was a dedicated homemaker, raising 8 children. When her children were older, she worked for Boland Manufacturing, Schueler Chocolate Candies, and Lake Center Switch. Some of her favorite past times included camping at Pla-Mor Campground, cross stitching, and spending time with family.In her earlier years, Marilyn enjoyed square dancing and traveling with her husband all over the country, even going to Florida on a motorcycle. With Ken, she would work odd carpenter jobs at night and still be able to get a hot meal on the table for the children.Marilyn is survived by her children, Gary (Rena) of St. Petersburg, FL, Susan (Ralph) Hempfner of Winona, Cheryl (Kendal) Harvey of Winona, Sharon (John) Schumacher of Houston, Karen Schueler of Winona, Brad (Lisa) of La Crescent, Kim (Bruce) Potter of Lewiston and Brett (Sandi Johnson) of Winona; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Linda (William) Carroll of Austin, MN and Mary Jane Sorenson of Sun City West, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn will also be sadly missed by her three dogs, Penny, Niki, and Jenny. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Wynia in 2012; son-in-law, Jerry Schueler in 2014; and brother-in-law, Les Sorenson.Memorial service will be 6pm, Friday, May 1, 2015 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview led by Funeral Celebrant John Wagenaar. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 3pm and a reception will be served in the event center. Private family graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
