Marilyn Jean Doebbert (nee: Anderson) passed away suddenly at Winona Health on Wednesday, June 20th.Marilyn was born April 25, 1938 in Winona to Wilford and Alma (Carney) Anderson. During high school, Marilyn had the privilege of flying coast to coast with pilot Max Conrad, as a part of the "Winona Experiment" - a student aviation organization. She also earned her life saving badge as a teenager and loved to swim. Marilyn married Leland J. Doebbert on June 16, 1956. They worked together initially farming and then, remodeling houses as a hobby for many years. She worked various jobs ranging from retail management to real estate.Marilyn was a loving wife, mother and homemaker and will most be remembered for her generosity and caring for all those around her and especially for her love and devotion to her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and cooking for others and was always willing to help those in need. She was the "rock" of the family and will be missed more than words can express. She is survived by her four children; Kim Doebbert of Maplewood, MN, Betty (Harry) Kline of Winona, MN, Karl (Lisa) Doebbert of Royse City, TX, and Kris (James) Dufseth of Winona, MN; eight grandchildren, McKenzie, Alex and Abbey Kline, Andrew and Caleb Doebbert, Morgen, IsaBella and Cody Dufseth; two brothers, Kenneth (Mary) Anderson of Winona, MN, and Wayne (Marcey) Anderson of Joplin, MO; and two sisters, Dorothy (Dennis) Luedtke of Winona, MN and Sheri (Loren) Simmonds of Lynnwood, WA; step-mother, Jeanne Anderson of Lynnwood, WA. After celebrating 54 years of marriage, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, on February 16, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Carol, and brother Roger. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 27th, at 10:00am at the Winona Church of the Nazarene.Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
