After an early retirement, she stayed home to help raise her family. Marilyn loved spending time with her 2 grandsons and enjoyed attending all their sporting events growing up. She also enjoyed cooking…..way too much for every Holiday; baking….way too often (no such thing); fishing….not enough; playing cards with her friends; crocheting anything and everything for anyone and everyone; and her word search books gave her peace when it was quiet. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Johnson (Duane Berns) of Surprise, AZ; two grandsons, Brent (Nikki) Kimmerle of Winona and Shane (Shari) Higgins of Nevada, IA; and eight wonderful great grandchildren, who she spent a lot of time with. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judd in 2019; and her four brothers, Robert, Ralph, Dwayne and Leroy Hanson. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, IA in a private family service.
