MINNESOTA CITYMarianne F. Mastenbrook, 77, of Minnesota City passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.Marianne was born October 25, 1937 to Albert and Mabel (Golish) Sobek in Winona. She graduated from Winona Senior High School and on October 8, 1960 she married Harold "Darby" O'Brien. Together they had one son, Tim. In 1974, Darby died suddenly in a house fire. In 1975, Marianne married Jule Mastenbrook. She worked as an office administrator at Bay State Milling, Mississippi Welders Supply, and Ed's Gun House. She belonged to St. Casimir Catholic Church and enjoyed volunteering on the lunch committee. She was a member of Winona County History Center, Minnesota City Historical Board, Winona Area Humane Society, and Winona Women's Bowling Association. Some of Marianne's favorite activities included taking care of her animals, gardening, canning, and selling her cucumbers. She was an avid archivist and loved history. In her earlier years, she enjoyed hunting deer, and especially squirrel and raccoon.Marianne is survived by her son, Tim (Lori) O'Brien of Minnesota City; grandchildren, Kateeri and Mara O'Brien; sister, Bernetta "Red" Kouba; many nieces, and nephews; and her beloved pets Shane and Spooks. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold "Darby" O'Brien; second husband, Jule Mastenbrook in 2008; and siblings, Clemens, Eugene E., and Ruth. Marianne looked forward to being reunited with her favorite dog, Nicky.Services for Marianne will be held 11am, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center with visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Monsignor Richard Colletti will officiate. Visitation will take place 4-7pm, Tuesday, May 26 at the funeral home.
