WINONA AND FORMERLY FROM ST. CHARLESMarguerite Magdaline Redig, 91, of Winona and formerly from St. Charles, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living. Marguerite was born December 30, 1923, in Winona to Adolph and Regina (Rivers) Philipps. She graduated from Winona Senior High School in 1941. On May 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Wilfrid J. Redig at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilson, the church where she was also baptized and confirmed. In her earlier years, Marguerite worked at Watkins and Winona National Bank. On January 2, 1957, she began working as the office manager at Production Credit Association and retired in the late 1980s. She was hardworking, honest, and fun. Marguerite appreciated quality over quantity when it came to most things. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, baking, and traveling. Throughout the years, she and Wilfrid had visited almost every state and Canada, but her favorite place to be was always home. Some of Marguerite's happiest times were when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Susan (Robert) Keith of Saint Charles, Minnesota; Dennis (Marilynn) Redig of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; and David (Linda) Redig of Saint Charles, Minnesota; grandchildren: Marnie (Scott) Krohse, Heather (Kyle) Egenes, Keeli Redig, Brian (Marina) Redig, Dan (Rachael) Redig, Katie Redig and Mychael Redig; nine great-grandchildren: Sam Krohse, Madalynn Redig, Kaedyn Redig, Ben Krohse, Elsie Redig, Will Egenes, Josh Krohse, Ava Jo Redig and Aaron Egenes and one due in December; siblings, Alois (Vera) Philipps, Jeanette Lelwica, Sally Scott, Dorothy (Eugene) Chadbourne, Virginia (George) Koenig, Eleanor Roloff, Catherine (LeRoy) Czaplewski, and Donald Philipps. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfrid in 2012; and brothers, Everett and Robert Philipps.The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful, caring staff of Sugar Loaf Senior Living Memory Care Unit. They were truly amazing.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7:30 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2015, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wilson with visitation one hour prior. The Most Reverend Bishop Bernard Harrington will officiate.
