St. Charles, Marguerite E. Brogan, 93, of St. Charles died Thursday evening July 28, 2011 at Golden Living Center in St. Charles. Marguerite was born May 11, 1918 in Saratoga Township to Adolph and Emma (Kiefer) Keller. She attended grade school in Saratoga and High School in St. Charles, also teacher training in St. Charles with classes at Winona State College. She taught six years in rural schools of Olmsted and Winona County. She was a county extension agent in Rock County, Luverne, MN for four years. Marguerite and Paul Brogan were married April 12, 1944 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Together they purchased the Keller family farm in Saratoga Township, where they farmed for many years. In 2003 they moved to St. Charles. Marguerite was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; St. Francis Unit and Catholic Daughters, Women of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary Ladies of the V.F.W., Saratoga Homemakers. She served as the first nutrition site manager of St. Charles Senior Citizens, head of the P.T.A., 4-H Leader, tour guide for the local Amish tours. Her interests were gardening and handicrafts. Survivors include four children, Charlene (Francis) Kronebusch of Utica, Gerard (Lila) Brogan of St. Charles, Patricia (Jim) Parlin of Austin and John (Anne) Brogan of Saratoga, a daughter-in-law, Diane Brogan of Pine Island, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great -grandchildren, and an AFS daughter Pat Cheeva of Thailand. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 2008, a son Jim in 2007, two grandsons, A.J. and Patrick, a great-granddaughter, Angie, two sisters and two brothers. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Chatfield. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8PM at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
