Margaret D. Millard, 93, of St. Charles, MN, passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in St. Charles, MN. Margaret Doris Ihrke was born May 24th, 1917, in St. Charles, MN, to William H. and Bertha (Michael) Ihrke. She grew up in St. Charles, graduated from St. Charles High School and from the St. Charles Teachers Training Department. She attended Winona State Teachers College and taught in Winona County rural schools. She was also a Sunday school teacher at St. Johns Evangelical and Reformed Church in St. Charles. On November 1st, 1940, she married Lloyd H. Millard and they made their home in St. Charles where they raised their two children. Margaret was a 66 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 190 of St. Charles. She enjoyed decorating, flower arranging, music of all kinds, playing her piano and visiting with her neighbors. Most of all she loved her cats.Survivors include her daughter, Faye Ellen (Larry) Thoma of Phoenix, AZ; son, Wayne "Buzzy" Millard of St. Charles, MN; grandchildren, John (Jenni) Williams and Julie Dawson both of Lewiston, MN, and Larry Jr. (Ashley) Thoma of Brooklyn Park, MN; great-grandchildren, Jessica Bruha, Harlie Faye Williams and Josh Kamrowski; sister-in-law, Clarice (Cecil) Millard of Rochester, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd, brother, Frank, sisters, Ethel Glaesmer, Ellen Goodwin and Mae Larson, infant brother, Harold, infant sister, Ester, sister-in-law, Gladys Ihrke, nieces, Phyllis Oldenburg and Muriel Bearden and nephews, Arthur Goodwin and Robert Bearden.A celebration of Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, at 11:00am, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service - St. Charles with the Reverend Heather E. Klason officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7:00pm and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
