Margaret E. Matson, 92, of Winona, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare of Winona.Margaret was born on December 12, 1918, in Winona to Walter and Adella (Prigge) Buske. She was raised in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1936. She worked for the telephone company in Rochester and Winona. Margaret was married to Gilbert "Gib" Matson on November 11, 1945, after his return from service during WWII. They made their home in Winona and had one son, John.Margaret was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Winona. She was active in Women's Club, Lutheran Women's Missionary Society, OWLS, Bible Circle and Card Circle. Margaret did volunteer work for the Red Cross, Winona Hospital, Sauer Memorial Home and the St. Teresa Alumni Association.She and Gib enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Margaret was also an avid gardener and was especially fond of her extensive rose garden.She is survived by her son, John (Donna) Matson of Rochester; brothers, Harold (Barbara) Buske and Ralph (LeNora) Buske, both of Rochester; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Helen) Matson of International Falls; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Gib, in 1978, and nephew, David Hassett.Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel with the Reverend Paul Welke officiating.
