MONEY CREEK, MINN. - Margaret A. Hughes, 85, of Money Creek died on Monday, January 8, 2007, at Franciscan - Skemp Health Care Center in LaCrosse, Wis. Margaret was born on July 4, 1921, in New Milford, New Jersey to Daniel and Bridgette (Kelly) Ogden. She was raised in New Jersey. She graduated from St. Mary's Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, New Jersey in 1942, with a nursing degree. She served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1948. Her tour of duty included North Africa and Italy. On October 18, 1952, she married Robert Henry Hughes in Oradell, New Jersey. She lived in Rochester, Minn. where she worked as an operating room nurse in the urology department at St. Mary's Hospital from 1962, until her retirement in 1981. She retired to Money Creek, Minn. where she lived the remainder of her life. While in Rochester she was an active member of St. Pius Catholic Church and was a Boy Scout leader. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Houston, Minn., and was a lifetime member of the Arnet - Sheldon American Legion Post #92 of Houston. Margaret is survived by her husband Robert Henry Hughes; two sons: Robert (Lisa) Hughes of Rochester, Minn., and Kevin (Julie) Hughes of Spring Texas; three daughters: Maureen Hughes of Money Creek, Minn., Karen (John) Spading of Rochester, Minn., and Brigh Hughes of Money Creek, Minn.; five grandchildren: Wendy (George) Caucutt, Dean Spading, James, Matthew, and Willie Hughes; two sisters: Emily Dunne of Burlington, New Jersey, and Helen Wagner of Beach Haven, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Norton Ogden, and one sister, Alice Vetter. There will be a Funeral Mass for Margaret at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Houston, Minn. with the Rev. Joseph Pete officiating. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery in Money Creek, Minn. with military honors by the Arnet - Sheldon American Legion Post #92 of Houston. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Friday at the church.
