Marcia S Paulsen -Rochester, MNMarcia Sharon Paulsen, 68, Rochester formerly of Buffalo, MN passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013.Marcia was born March 1, 1945 to Robert and Norma (Ling) Paulsen in Minneapolis. In 1948 she moved with her parents to Round Lake, MN where she grew up surrounded by relatives. She graduated valedictorian from Round Lake High School in 1963 and went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota. After spending a year working at Gold Bond Stamp in Plymouth she obtained her teaching certificate from Mankato State. Then lived and worked in Emmetsburg, IA. She returned to MSC to obtain an MS degree in Media Science. In 1971 she began her career as media specialist at Buffalo junior high, ten years later transferring to the high school where she remained until her retirement in 2004.Marcia held memberships and was active in Minnesota Federation of Teachers and Buffalo Federation of Teachers serving as treasurer and on the negotiation team.While making Buffalo her hometown she served on the Planning and Zoning Committee and served 12 years on the city council.Marcia was also active with the State Historical Society, MN Genealogic Society and the German Group. Her strong interest in history led to researching family and community. She co-authored 'A Railroad Station Became a Town' a centennial history of the Round Lake and Indian Lake Community and 'Buffalo: from trading post to star city' also a centennial history. She traveled often to England and Germany conducting family research and published many family lineages.Being single gave Marcia time to spend with her mother, father, sisters and their families. She was always ready to help out where she could. She often said "Don't forget me!" when her sisters talked about traveling somewhere. So the sisters took several trips together or just had long weekends together shopping, visiting sites and taking in stage shows and concerts.Marcia is survived by her father, Robert Paulsen and three sisters, Becky (Fred) DeJong, Round Lake, Bonnie (Wayne) Feyereisn, St Charles, and Lori (Mike) Morrison, Worthington. Eight nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephew.She was preceded in death by her mother.A memorial service will be held in Round Lake at a later date.Leave a memory of Marcia, sign her online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com
