Marcella H. Rivers, 85, died Thursday, July 6, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at Lake Winona Manor from complications following a stroke. Marcella was born April 17, 1921 in Winona, MN to Michael and Eleanor (Guenther) Hengel. She married Wilfred Rivers on August 5, 1941 in Rollingstone, MN. Marcella was a cook for the Holy Trinity School in Rollingstone for many years. However her primary occupation was being a homemaker and raising seven children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great ? grandchildren. Her hobbies included writing poetry, baking and cooking. She was well known for her homemade bread and instilled her love of cooking and baking in her children and grandchildren. Marcella was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN, the St. Nicholas and St. Theresa Society and Catholic Aid Association.Survivors include one son, Brother Michael Rivers of St. Paul, MN; four daughters, Betty (Ron) Rumpel of Arcadia, WI, Toni Rivers, Mary (Gary) Stoos and Jodi Rivers all of Rollingstone, MN; grandchildren, Jeri (Troy) Brugger, Tricia (Blake) Parrish, Nancy (Gerald) Skroch, James Lipinski, Nichole (Brett) Machtig, Kimberly (Shawn) Kudron, Mark Rumpel, Brady Rumpel, Rachel Stoos, Kelsey Stoos and Natalie Stoos; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Michael (Audrey) Hengel; sister, Betty Klinger of Rollingstone, MN; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Martha) Rivers of Ohio and Paul Rivers of Winona, MN; sister-in-law, Catherine Rivers of Rochester, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred, son, Thomas, daughter, Francine Lipinski, her parents, brother, Francis and sister, Delores. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at 10:30am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN with the Reverends Donald Lovas and Roy Literski concelebrating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone on Monday from 5-8:00pm where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30pm.
