Houston, Madelyn, Elizabeth Wirig, 94, of Houston passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Born September 4, 1910 I Minneapolis to Charles and Ella (Garlick) Whyte. Madelyn was married and later divorced. For more than 60 years she worked as a beautician.. Madelyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary and Cross of Christ Lutheran Church of Houston. Survivors include a daughter Joan (Charles) Westby of Houston, two sisters, Marge Sheets of Rockford, ILL and Marie Johnson of St. Paul, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a brother Virg Whyte. Madelyn enjoyed crafts and traveling, chatting with her customers and being with her family. Funeral Services will be 11AM Tuesday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with the Rev. Louise Stromberg officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of Madelyn's cremated body in Money Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7PM Monday at Hoff Funeral Home's - Houston Chapel.
