Lyle Russell Rud

April 27, 1935 — April 5, 2014

Lyle Russell Rud, 78, of Stewartville, died April 5, 2014 from complications of cancer, at the Spring Valley Care Center, where he had been a resident since January.
Mr. Rud was born April 27, 1935 in Stewartville, to Clarence & Thelma (Molde) Rud. He grew up and lived in Stewartville. Lyle served in the U.S Air Force from 1956 to 1958. Following his discharge he was employed at Waters Conoley where he met and later married Karen Hagen in February of 1964. They later divorced in October of 2000. He also worked as a paver operator for over 10 years for Rochester Sand & Gravel, and then Mathy’s Construction where he retired on May 1, 1997.
Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, playing cards, putting puzzles together & tending to his vegetable garden.
Survivors include one son, Brian Rud of Albertville, and two daughters, Brenda (Robert) Oetman of Seoul, South Korea, Rhonda (Richard) Meldahl of rural Chatfield; four grandchildren: Corbin Rud, Robby, Amanda & Matthew Oetman. Three sisters; Charlotte Kath, Sandra Rodenz, Germaine (Charlie) Baker all of Stewartville, and two brothers, Dayton (Colleen) Rud of Rochester and Harold Rud of Stewartville. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and 2 brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 11, 2014 at Midwest Bible Baptist Church, 5930 Bandel Road NW, in Rochester, with pastors Caleb Hanson and David Earnhart officiating. Following the service, a funeral luncheon will be served at the church.

A  committal service with military honors accorded by the Rochester VFW will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester at 2:00 PM on Friday.
A time of reflection and visitation celebrating Lyle’s life will be held 4:30-6:30 PM on Thursday, April 10, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield.  Visitation will continue at Midwest Bible Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
