RUSHFORD, MINN. - Lyle R. Myers, 78 of Rushford died on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Gundersen - Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis. Lyle was born on March 14, 1929, in Hinkley, Minn. to Burl and Cora (Wendling) Myers. He was raised in Hinkley where he attended country school. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. On February 11, 1955, he married Gladys Giinthir in Willmar, Minn. Lyle farmed in Raymond, Minn. for 13 years. He worked at the State Hospital in Willmar for a short time. Lyle then took a job with the Department of Transportation as a highway maintenance worker. He and Gladys lived in Mazeppa, Minn. from 1969 to 1972, when they moved to Rushford. Lyle ran Myers Chuck Wagon for 21 years, serving food at various auctions and other events. He also served on the Rushford City Council. After his retirement in 1991, Lyle volunteered in the community bringing people to their doctor's appointments. Lyle had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed visiting, playing cards, lawn maintenance and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two daughters: Diane (Scott) Hovland of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Marcie (Glen) Feine of Rushford; one son, Vernon (Beth McManimon) Myers of Rushford; nine grandchildren: Chrissy, Beth, Amber, Mike, Morgan, Samara, Cadence, Mason and Raquela; and one great-granddaughter, Kasity. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Hazel. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hart, Minn. with the Rev. Harold Hintzman officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
