St. Charles, Lyle M. Yeoman Sr., 88 of St. Charles died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Golden Living Center in St. Charles. Lyle was born January 30, 1922 in Schley, IA to Tracy and Mabel (Heller) Yeoman. He lived his early years in Harmony, MN and graduated from Harmony High School. Lyle enlisted in the Army Air Corp in December of 1941 and served as an airplane mechanic. He married Elaine Crandall on August 21, 1947 and they had two children; Lyle Jr. and Janet. The couple moved to St. Charles in 1958. He was employed by Home Produce for 15 years and later as a custodian at Dover-Eyota Schools for 9 years. He belonged to the St. Charles United Methodist Church, St. Charles American Legion and had been involved in the Boy Scouts. Lyle loved to fish and hunt with his brothers, nephews and friends. He had a great sense of humor and a twinkle in his eyes. Lyle is survived by a grandson Ryan Yeoman, his sister Lois Alfson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine in 1980, son Lyle, Jr., daughter Janet, brothers; Ralph and Merle Yeoman, sisters Pearl Thatcher and Phyllis Halverson. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Saturday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Heather E. Klason officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services at the funeral home. The St. Charles American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Posts will be conducting military graveside honors.
