Luther "Lux" Theodore Tollefson, 93, died Monday, March 6, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Lux was born August 29, 1912 in Peterson, MN to Reinhardt and Lena (Markegard) Tollefson. He married Alice Schoolcraft on December 20, 1940 in Iowa. Lux served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. Lux was in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart. Lux worked for the Stewart Clark Texaco Station which he later purchased and operated for many years. He also had been a truck driver for Home Produce and Rentfrew and Searcy, served one year as the St. Charles City Recorder and had worked at Town and Country Men's Store following his retirement. Lux was a member of St. Charles United Methodist Church. Lux and his wife, Alice enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, Texas and Florida during the winter for a few years. Lux also enjoyed boating and water skiing in his earlier years and in his retirement he enjoyed reading and following programs on TV. Lux was a 50 year member of the Rising Sun Lodge #49 and was a past Master, was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5630 and past Commander, was a member of the Lions Club and past President, was a member of the Scottish Rite 32 Degree of Rochester, MN, was a member of the VFW bowling team and honor guard.Survivors include his wife, Alice; four daughters, Pat (George) Putzier, Shirley Johnson, Lou Tollefson and Helen Tollefson all of St. Charles, MN; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Molde, grandson, Michael Johnson, two brothers, Roy and Odin and three sisters, Tena, Claire and Ruth.
