The funeral for Luella Penne, 94, of Chatfield, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lanesboro, with Father Patrick Arens officiating. Burial will be in Carrolton Cemetery in rural Fountain following the services.
Mrs. Penne died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Chosen Valley Care Center, where she had resided since 2001.
Luella Catherine Weber was born March 29, 1918, in Cresco, Iowa, to Frank and Carrie (Volkering) Weber. She married Raymond A. Penne on April 7, 1947, in Cresco, Iowa. Raymond died Dec. 20, 1994. She lived in Cresco, Iowa, until 1952, moved to rural Fountain, then to Chatfield to the Chosen Valley Care Center in 2001.
Luella was a member of St Lawrence O'Toole Catholic Church in Fountain and the American Legion Auxiliary in Fountain. She enjoyed crocheting, needle work, playing cards and caring for her grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Herman) Miller of Fountain, Carol (Bob) Huntington of Chatfield and Diane (Jim) Peterson of Lanesboro; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Henrietta Wolf of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 1, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
