Lucille Louise Walters, 88, of St. Charles died Monday, December 11, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester. Lucille was born to John and Louise (Miller) Schmit on November 21, 1929 in Wabasha. She married Edwin John Walters on October 26, 1950. They have seven children. Lucille and Edwin farmed on the Walters family farm in Quincy Township, before moving to St. Charles in 2000. She belonged to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church of Eyota, before becoming a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Lucille volunteered for Southeastern Minnesota Resource Center in St. Charles.
Survivors include her seven children, Robert Walters; Mary Ann (Everett) Kreidermacher; Sharon (Don) Mueller; Diana (Dean) Willson; Ray Walters; Ernie Walters and Lisa (Kurt) Albrecht. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, seven siblings, Bud Schmit; Walter Schmit; Margie Desner; Rosie Welke; Janet Rahman; Patty Fohrman and John Schmit. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in 2001, and by her parents, four siblings, Bernice Hall; Mary Kreidermacher; Nancy Schmit and Robert Schmit, a sister-in-law and two brother-in-laws.
A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Tim Biren officiating. Burial will follow in Little Valley Cemetery, north of Dover. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services on Thursday at the church.
