Lucille K. Maus, 98, former area resident died Tuesday April 17, 2007 at the Kahl Home in Davenport, IA. Lucille was born, July 5, 1908 in St. Charles to Robert & Kathryn (Lynch) Stevens. She and James Maus were married on June 30, 1934 at St. Charles. The couple farmed in Mount Vernon Township near Rollingstone. Lucille received her Bachelors degree in education from Winona Teachers College. She taught school at Altura, Minnieska and Bamber Valley School in Rochester for 31 years. Lucille moved to Rochester in 1972. Her husband Jim died in 1973. She moved to Moline, IL in 1995. Lucille enjoyed farming and canning and cooking. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church of Minnieska and its St. Anne's unit. She also belonged to the Minnesota Teachers Association. Survivors include a son Dr. Robert (Sue) Maus of Lexington, IL and a daughter Catherine (Jim) Minnihan of Moline, IL, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband James died May 21, 1973. There will be a Funeral Mass 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at St. Charles. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home's, St. Charles Chapel and one hour before services at the church.
