St. Charles, Louise Vera Giles, 91, of St. Charles died Saturday April 23rd at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Louise was born July 14, 1913 in Dallas County, Iowa to Charlie and Lizzie (Meilicke) Heinz. She and Percy H. Giles were married June 9, 1934 in Perry, Iowa. Louise worked along side her husband as they farmed the Giles family farm in Dallas County. In 1940 the couple moved to the area and farmed at Rochester, Grand Meadow, Stewartville and Douglas. In 1954 they moved near Lewiston to farm in Fremont Township of Winona County. Percy died January 17, 1977. Louise moved to St. Charles in 1998. Louise was a member of the Lewiston Presbyterian Church and several church groups; serving as Vice-President and Secretary of the Women's Association, Church elder and Circle. Louise enjoyed crocheting. Survivors include a son Donald (Nancy) Giles of Water Valley, Mississippi, four grandchildren; Jess Pierce, Sandy Melville, Steven Giles and Suzanne Black, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, a son-in-law Wesley Pierce of Lewiston and a brother-in-law Clair (Grace) Giles of Clive, Iowa. In addition to her husband Percy she was preceded in death by a daughter Janice Pierce, a brother Carl J. Heinz and a sister Mary Ione Heinz. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday at the Lewiston Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tim Gerarden officiating. Burial will follow services in Fremont Scotch Cemetery.
