Louise Alice Rockvam, 90, of Rochester, passed away peacefully at Edenbrook Nursing Home, Rochester on September 3,2019.
She was born in rural Chatfield, MN on November 13, 1928, the daughter of Amil and Emma (Fimon) Kadlec. Louise grew up on the family century farm and attended the first eight grades at the country School District #128. She was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1946 with top honors as Valedictorian of her class.
Immediately after graduation, Louise worked at Northwestern Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Chatfield. Louise began work at Mayo Clinic’s Registration Department in 1947. On March 19, 1948, Louise married Norman Oliver Rockvam at the Methodist Church in Chatfield. The couple then made Rochester their home. Louise retired from the Mayo Clinic in 1991.
Louise was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and a former member of the Rochester Archery Club, the Thunderbolts Motorcycle Club and the Rochester Road Riders. Louise enjoyed country music, NASCAR, the Minnesota Twins and metal detecting for old coins and precious metals.
Louise was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Norman. Louise is survived by her two children: Noreen (Craig) Schultz of Tucson, AZ and Leland (Cathy) Rockvam of Falmouth ME and three grandchildren: Jason Rockvam, Allison Carli and Olivia Rockvam.
A funeral service for Louise will be 1:00 PM Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Riley Funeral Home, Chatfield MN, with Pastor Mark Docken officiating.
