Our beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt, Loretta Elsie St. Peter, entered the kingdom of Heaven on April 19, 2011 at Lake Winona Manor with her family at her side. She had been in declining health for the past several months. Loretta was born February 22, 1927 in Hart on the family farm to Martin and Etta (Warnken) Luedtke and was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Hart. She married Clarence "Pete" St. Peter on December 16, 1950, who was also born on February 22, 1927 in Hyannis, MA. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in December 2010 and their 84th birthdays in February. Loretta's proudest accomplishments were being a loving wife to Pete and devoted mother to her five children, Peggy of Eagan, Frank of Winona, Marjorie of Minneapolis, Robert of Fullerton, CA, and Stephen of Las Vegas, NV. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her brother, Martin of Waukesha, WI and her sister, Gladys of Hyannis, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Orville and Robert; sisters, Ruth, Edna, Violet, and Marian; and nieces and nephews.Loretta was happiest spending time with her family at 315 E. King Street that was home for over 50 years. She especially enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays, the last one in March. Loretta was a homemaker who unselfishly devoted her life to her family, put other people's needs before her own, and appreciated the simple things in life. She was always available to her loved ones with a sympathetic ear and thankful heart. She worked in her home as a private day care provider for many years. A long-time member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Loretta was a wonderful cook and baker. She was also an avid Twins fan who seldom missed a game on TV or radio, and enjoyed drives through the countryside that ended with a meal at a favorite restaurant. She looked forward to watching Steamboat Days fireworks, walking downtown to shop, and the Christmas season. Her home was always festively decorated and full of the holiday spirit with music, food, and gifts. Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service-Hansen Goodview Chapel with The Reverend Richard Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30pm until the start of the service. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Please share a memory of Loretta in her online guestbook and view her video tribute when it becomes available at
