Loretta Bakkestuen

Loretta Bakkestuen, 64, of Winona, MN passed unexpectedly on July 22, 2024. Starting her journey on March 2, 1960, in the charming town of La Crosse, WI, Loretta was the daughter of Richard and Naomi Roberts. During her youth, she shared countless memories with her siblings and graduated from Onalaska High School in Onalaska, WI.

Loretta was united in marriage with Leo Bakkestuen on January 13, 1984. Their family settled in Winona, Minnesota, where they lovingly raised their children. Loretta devoted two decades to serving at Fiberite, followed by over ten years at the Winona D.A.C., and later worked at WinCraft/Fanatics.

A woman of many passions, she found joy in reading, golfing, crocheting, painting, and restoring antiques. Among her favorite pastimes was orchestrating Christmas decorating and mischief with her children's gifts. Cherished memories were created while camping in the summer and holding down the fort in the ski chalet in the winter. Loretta's feisty nature was endeared to all who knew her. She was the life of the party and her loud infectious laugh will be missed by many.

She is survived by her mother, Naomi; children, Andy (Suzie) Ehlo, Luke (Amanda) Bakkestuen, Matt (Rebecca) Bakkestuen; grandchildren, Quintin, Sophia, Evan, Hailey; siblings, Dick (Terri) Roberts, Rita (Jim) Trainer, Sheila (Donny) Borreson, Tory (Tom) Roesler, Pam Roberts, and Linda (Mark) Domke.

Loretta is preceded in death by her father, Richard Roberts; husband, Leo Bakkestuen; and brother, Nick Roberts.
