Winona, MNLoren Lee "Larry" Jaeckels, 64, of Winona, MN died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Larry was born on March 10, 1942 in St. Cloud, MN to George and Dorothy (Kotsmith) Jaeckels. Larry graduated from Foley High School in 1960 and graduated from St. Cloud State College in 1964. Upon graduation, he moved to Winona, MN and worked at Merchants National Bank in Winona as a computer programmer/systems analyst. He retired as vice president of his department after 33 dedicated years. He married Sheila Huson in 1983. She passed away shortly after their marriage and Larry has revered her memory ever since. Larry was a very loyal member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart parish in Winona and a leading member of the Knights of Columbus. Larry had been an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He and three friends co-owned the Four Knights on Fifth liquor store in Winona for several years. He maintained an interest in many sports, especially baseball and football. In recent years, golfing with his circle of friends was his main activity. Larry enjoyed cooking and it is said that his chili was so hot it took four days to freeze a batch. He loved visiting with his many cousins and liked a good game of cards. He will be missed by many. Survivors include his sister, Audrey Aufderhar of St. Cloud, MN; his brother-in-law, Edward Masog of Verndale, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ladonna; and his wife, Sheila.The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 5, 2006 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Winona. The Reverends John Sauer and Robert Stamschror will be co-officiating. Burial will be in the Foley Catholic Cemetery in Foley, MN on Wednesday, June 7. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 4 at Hoff Funeral Homes ? Hansen Tribute Center in Goodview, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Larry strongly supported The Organ Donation program so the family will follow his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be made to support the Knights of Columbus in your home community.
