The funeral for Lorayne E. Olson will be 1PM Sunday at the St. Charles United Church of Christ with Jason Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Mrs. Olson, 86, of St. Charles, died Wednesday, January 24th at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Lorayne Ellen Todd was born September 8, 1920 in Elba to Lester and May (Jensen) Todd. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1939 and took Normal Teacher Training in St. Charles. Lorayne taught school at the Whitewater Valley and Quincy country schools. She later worked several years as a medical secretary at Mayo Clinic. On November 17, 1946 Lorayne married Harold Olson at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rochester. They made their home in Plainview where they owned and operated Olson Meat Market from 1948 until retiring and moving to St. Charles in 1984. Lorayne enjoyed sports - baseball, football, horse racing and bowling. She was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packer and Minnesota Viking fan. Survivors include her brother, Leland (Margie) Todd of Chatfield, sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews, as well as grand and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 29, 1988 and by a brother Darwin Todd. Friends may call from 11:30 until time of services at the church.
