Lois Corrine (Benson) Honsey

On March 10 th 2023, our understated sassy and beloved Mom, Lois Corrine Honsey, got her Angel wings.
After a five month battle, we recently discovered she had an aggressive form of cancer.
Mom was born in Hettinger, ND. Her parents were Orlando and Tena (Dahle) Benson. Mom moved to
Rochester as a young adult and spent 32 years as a Surgical Tech at Methodist Hospital. She loved
nothing better than her family time whether it was garage saling, bonfires or especially working in her
flower gardens. She married Dale Honsey on July 24 th 1960. Lois and Dale had three children: Tena
(Steve) Martin, Joseph (Paula) Honsey and Rebecca Honsey, five grandchildren: Nicole, Alissa, Tara,
Taylor and Jarrett, and four great-grandchildren. Mom also has a sister, Mary (Curt) Bakke. She will join
in heaven: her husband Dale Honsey, Sister Lorraine Peterson, Brothers Buddy, Robert, Jimmy, Donnie,
Laverne and Larry Benson, as well as many other family and friends. Mom was baptized and confirmed
and was a member of the American Legion in Lanesboro. Mom was also a Sunday school Teacher at
Bethany United Methodist Church from approximately 1973 – 1980. Mom was loved by many who
considered her as their second Mother. She will be so missed!
Funeral Service for Lois will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Union Prairie Lutheran Church in
rural Lanesboro, with Pastor Kerry Eversole officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the
church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
