Lois Helen Ellinghuysen, 83 of Lewiston, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Sunrise Cottages of Rochester.Lois was born November 16, 1929 in Altura to Albert and Minnie (Glende) Stark. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1948, where she played the Clarinet in the band. On August 22, 1948, she married Kenneth Ellinghuysen in Winona. Throughout her life, she was a member of various Lutheran Missouri Synod churches in the area and had a very strong faith. They farmed near Fremont, where they raised eight children. After Lois and Kenneth retired from farming, they spent a lot of time traveling across the country. Lois worked outside the home at Rush Products and after retirement, her and Kenneth began working together at the Super 8 Motel in Winona. She was a member of the Lois Club in Winona. Lois was very artistic; she enjoyed oil painting and hand painting Christmas ornaments. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, birds, music and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.She is survived by her children, Lynn Mundt of Utica, Barb (Kent) Mitchell of St. Charles, Susie (Ron) Babcock of Lewiston, Ron (Barb) Ellinghuysen of Minnesota City, Gary Ellinghuysen of St. Charles, Renee Nowlan of St. Charles, Michael (Alison) Ellinghuysen of Centerville, Utah; and Patti Merchlewitz (Jim Huth) of St. Charles; brothers, Connie (Alice) Stark of St. Charles, Jerry (Grace) Stark of Goodview, Marvin (Beverly) Stark of Claremont and Curt (Betty) Stark of Rollingstone; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Lois is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth in 1983; sister, Alice Woxland; brother, Frank Stark; grandson, Joey Mundt; and sons-in-law, Larry Mundt and Steve Nowlan.Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Lewiston Church of the Brethren with Ministers Susan Bollinger, Gordon Hoffert and Roger Peckover officiating. Lois will be laid to rest next to her husband in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
