Lloyd J. Humble

RUSHFORD, MINN. - Lloyd J. Humble, 93, of Rushford, Minn. died on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Gundersen - Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis. Lloyd was born on May 10, 1915, in Norway Township, Fillmore County, Minn. to Adolph and Marie (Overland) Humble. Lloyd was raised south of Rushford. He attended country school and Rushford High School. On September 5, 1937, Lloyd married Vivian Johnson in Highland, Minn. He worked in the poultry business for a while and later established a Shell Oil distributorship in Rushford which he operated for many years. Lloyd's interests included trout fishing, deer and coon hunting, antiquing, local history, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church as well as the church men's club and dart club. Lloyd is survived by his son, Cortland (Laurel) Humble of Rushford; three grandchildren: Caryn (Brad) Peterson of LaCrescent, Minn., Lynn (David) Hinz of Rushford, and Chris (Jan) Humble of Pickwick, Minn.; four great-grandchildren: Olivia, Erika, Anna, and Kjersta; and by his extended family at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters: Minerva Heiden and Eleanor Dammen. There will be a memorial service for Lloyd at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial of Lloyd's cremated body will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Lloyd's family prefers memorials to be directed to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home's activities department or to the Rushford Lutheran Church.
