Lisa Koenig

March 23, 1956 — August 16, 2020

Lisa Ouitau Koenig (Ouitau), of Highland, MN, passed away peacefully
on August 16, 2020 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, MN.
She was born in Dallas, TX on March 23, 1956 to Richard and Ouitau
(Neill) Williams. She grew up in Texas and after graduation, she lived
in Louisiana, New Mexico, California, and Colorado and settled in Tyler,
TX, with her daughter where she met her husband Jim. In 1996, they moved to Highland. MN. Ouitau worked as a dental hygienist
in Austin, MN until suffering a stroke in 2015. Ouitau was a fun loving outdoorsy woman who was truly one with nature, she enjoyed camping during all times
of year, hiking in the bluffs of Southeastern MN, boating and fishing and watching the sunrise and set, she appreciated God's beauty here in the Midwest.
Ouitau also loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her husband and her daughter Mariah.
She had a big heart and loved her family and friends dearly, and she always had a way of making you smile with her wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed simple pleasures spending time with family and friends, food, good ole music, companionship of dogs and tubing adventures. Ouitau was proud of her American Indian heritage, and integrated that into many areas of her life.
Ouitau believed that balance was the key to
life; always stressed how important it was to pull yourself together
during the most difficult times because the sun was going to rise again.
Ouitau is survived by her loving husband of 33
years, Jim Koenig of Highland MN, her daughter, Mariah (Patrick)
Hardesty of Nacogdoches, TX, stepson Bryon (Holly) Koenig with
grandchildren, Nick, Annabelle, and Rachel of Nodine, MN, mother,
Ouitau Williams of Colorado Springs, CO, father in law George Koenig of
Winona, sister Dena (John) Fuller of Colorado Springs, CO, brother, Neill
(Claudia) Williams of Austin, TX, sisters in law Mary Koenig, Melanie
(Dan) Messmann and Debbie Koenig, nieces Allie Fuller, Saige Fuller,
Tauvie Fuller, Cameron Williams, Maggie Messmann, Ellie Messmann,
Jessica Koenig, nephews Dakota Fuller and Seth Fuller, Jackson
Williams, Robyn (Kim) Donalds, Lee (Sara) Wade, Daniel (Rachel)
Koenig, Sean (Nichole) Koenig, Jason (Penny) Koenig and many
cousins and close friends. Ouitau was preceded in death by her
grandparents, father, mother in law, uncles, three brothers in law, friends
and other family members. Lisa Ouitau Koenig was a woman of God, a
loving mother, an amazing wife. She was an honest and faithful friend
and will forever make an impression and hold a very special place in many
hearts. We will greatly miss you mom, but you are free now. Go hike up into the
mountains and enjoy your eternal life. We will never forget you or the
accomplishments that your life held.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at The Good Shepherd. A private family service will be held in the future.
