Linda Gail Houge, 76, of Houston, MN died on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Valley View Nursing Home. Linda was born on February 28, 1947, in Minneapolis, MN, to Arthur and Helen Joyce (Wilcox) Houge. Linda graduated from Houston High School in 1965; she was involved in many activities including band and choir. Linda was Prom Queen during her senior year; she also played piano and was an accompanist for church choirs. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities after graduation from Houston High School; she graduated from Mankato State College in 1969, with a Bachelor's Degree. She accepted a position at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN in the social work department
Linda was diagnosed with schizophrenia very soon after beginning her social work career; the disease would steal her hopes and dreams as well as shatter her future plans. Linda returned to Houston and for the next 37 years was employed by Valley View Nursing Home as a CNA. She showed strength and courage against the affects of schizophrenia, never allowing it to control the future or prevent her from a happy and fulfilled life. Linda never complained and was generous and compassionate; she deeply loved her nieces and nephews and they loved her.
Linda is survived by her sisters, Marna (Randolph) Zoerb, Jane (Dan) Peckskamp; brother, David (Pamela) Houge; her nieces and nephews, Tristan (Leslie) Zoerb, Ilse Zoerb, Emily (Adam) Lawrence, Arthur Peckskamp, Ann Peckskamp, Myah (Mark) Herro, Brennen Houge; and five great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Art Houge (decd. April 1989) and Helen Joyce Houge (decd. April, 2014).
A Celebration of Linda's Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 11, at the Hoff Funeral Home of Houston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at the Stone Church Cemetery - Houston. www.hofffuneral.com
