Lillian G. Rasmussen, 84, died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford, MN. Lillian was born September 27, 1921 in Looney Valley, MN to Ludwig and Dina (Nelson) Torgerson. She married Bertram W. Rasmussen on August 24, 1940 in Carlton Township, Fillmore County, MN. He preceded Lillian in death on November 26, 1999. Lillian and her husband were lifelong farmers in Rushford. She also worked for 22 years in the laundry at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home where she maintained the best friendship with her boss, Stanley Vier. Lillian was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Ladies Aid. Lillian and her husband began a Tuesday Night Bible Study in the 1960's which Lillian continued until her death. She was also active with the Helping Hand Club. Lillian is lovingly remembered for her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include her three sons, Jerry, Lowell (Carol) both of Rushford, MN and Gale (RuthAnn) of Lewiston, MN; daughter, Julie (Rocky) Volkman of Rushford; foster son, Hank Schultz of Marietta, MN; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Thenard Torgerson of Indiana and David (Mavis) Jorde of Money Creek, MN; sister, Katherine Vetsch of Houston, MN; brothers and sisters - in -law, Oranda Torgerson of Houston, MN, Robert (Lorna) Rasmussen of Rushford, MN, Betty Rasmussen of Winona, MN and Dolores (Art) Ensberg of Grand Rapids, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bertram, son, Wayne, grandson, Brandon, brother, Donald and sisters, Viola and Candace.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 2:00pm at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Reverend Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
