Letha Marie (Upham) Unangst, 95, of LaCrosse, WI, died Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare in LaCrosse, WI. She was born June 16, 1915, to Thomas and Vivian (Erfft) Upham in Momence, IL. She married Charles Wesley Unangst on June 18, 1938, in Rockford, IL. Letha was a school teacher in the Harlem School District #122, Loves Park, IL, for many years retiring in 1977. She lived in Tucson, AZ, until 2004 when she moved to Meadow Wood Assisted Living in LaCrosse, WI. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century and the Eastern Star. Letha enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Janet (Jack) Vrstal of East Moline, IL, and Thomas (Kathy) Unangst of LaCrescent, MN; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Dan Wilson) McVey of Oshkosh, WI, and Bradley (Tanya) Unangst of St. Louis Park, MN; and great grandchildren, Ross and Caitlyn McVey and Rylie and Slade Unangst. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles and sisters, Ijunia and Gertrude.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 26th, at 4:00pm at LaCrescent United Methodist Church in LaCrescent, MN, with the Reverend Greg Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Rockford, IL, at a later date. The family suggests memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
