Leslie Root

Rochester, Leslie J. Root, 90 of Rochester died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Leslie was born to Frank and Mary Josephine (Ferrier) Root on January 29, 1914 in Saratoga Township. He lived in Fremont. Leslie and Bernice Koeller were married March 10, 1937 in Decorah, IA . They made their home in Winona, where he was a salesman at Neville's Store and he owned and operated roller skating rinks. They later retired to Stockton Valley before moving to Rochester. For many years they wintered in Texas and Arizona. Currently he and Bernice lived at Madonna Meadows Assisted Living in Rochester. Survivors include his wife Bernice, a daughter Jerri (David) Allen of St. Charles, three grandchildren; Randall (Kathy) Allen of Tellico Plains, TN, Traci (Dale) Heim of Rochester, and Vicki (Roger) Dearth of Rochester, 11 great-grandchildren and a brother Don of Decorah, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel with the Rev. Martin Mueller officiating. Burial will follow services in Saratoga Cemetery in rural St. Charles. Friends may call from 1-2 PM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel.
