Lena Lillian Demulling, 97, of Rochester, died Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Madonna Towers in Rochester. She was born on May 18, 1921 in Somerset, WI to Edmund and Mary (Cloutier) Viellieu. On June 24, 1939, she married Lawrence Demulling and together they had 7 children. In their early years, she helped her husband in his profession of cheesemaker in Wisconsin. Later, she worked at the Kahler Hotel in Rochester as a housekeeper, but most important to her was raising her children. She loved to cook as well as grow vegetables for canning. Her favorite hobby was researching new recipes to try. After retirement, Lena enjoyed her volunteer work for the Foster Grandparent's Program at a local daycare in Rochester where she cared for babies of working parents. Her boundless faith and attending Mass was what guided and comforted her. She will be missed by her children, Robert (Charlene) Demulling, Thomas (Leah Kohlmeyer) Demulling, James (Carol) Demulling, and Diane (Steve) Rossman; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Allen Viellieu and Nancy Smith; and son and daughter-in-law, David Hander and Ardys Demulling. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; children, Ronald Demulling, Carol Hander, and Sharon Demulling; and siblings, Darlene Martin and Omer Viellieu. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 16, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Rev. Tim Biren officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Lena will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Please leave a memory of Lena and view her video tribute when it becomes available at
