Leland Jonsgaard

Leland James Jonsgaard, 68, of Lewiston passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Hospitals, Methodist Campus - Rochester. Leland was born September 24, 1951 in Lewiston to Harris and Bernice (Mueller) Jonsgaard. He attended Lewiston High School. Following high school Leland farmed until he began driving truck. He spent most of his career driving milk truck for Gibb's Trucking in Elba. Following retirement Leland worked at the Enterprise rest stop on I-90.
In 1972 he married Carol Gaustad. They were married for a short time. In 1976 he married Loreen Stark and they later divorced.
Leland left a footprint in the lives of all he knew. He was humble and non-judgmental. Was a kind soul who would not talk bad about others. Would give the shirt off his back and never take anything in return. Leland loved the outdoors. Especially hunting, fishing, camping, playing sports and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by three children; Nicole (Jack) Momaly of Rockton, IL, Sheila Jonsgaard (Ben Ohnstad) of Rochester and Jerry (Aunna) Jonsgaard of St. Charles, a step-daughter, Angie (Mike) Horsman, four grandchildren, Gavin, Mason and Elliette Johnson and Nicholas Momaly, his mother Bernice Jonsgaard of Lewiston and his six siblings; Karen (Larry) Buxcel of Hutchinson, Beverly (Ray) Gilliam of Brownsdale, Leroy (Laura) Jonsgaard of Okeechobee, FL, Kevin (Carrie) Jonsgaard of Wilson, Jodi (Bob) Van Pelt of Austin and Kelly (Patrick) Kalmes of Rollingstone. He was preceded in death by his father, Harris.
Services to celebrate Leland's life will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, led by funeral celebrant Ashley Czaplewski. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, St. Charles. In accordance with current restrictions, social distancing and facemasks are required at services.
